Why have we decided to address our debt now?
Our mortgage clock is ticking toward September 15, 2018, when our mortgage will renew for another 14 years. The form of commercial mortgage we currently have does not permit us to make pre-payments against our principal until it renews on September 15, 2018. At that point a window opens for us to pay off the mortgage. The time is now for the Grace Unleashed Project to raise funds to pay off our mortgage.
How did we arrive at the goal of raising approximately $1,361,000?
The estimated $1,361,000 is the projected balloon payment due on our mortgage September 15, 2018. We must, no later than July of 2018, have the funds needed to pay off our mortgage or start negotiations with our bank to renew any remaining balance owed on September 15, 2018.
How much is our mortgage debt costing us?
- Through October 1, 2016 we have already paid approximately $1,177,000 in total payments.
- Total estimated interest we have paid thru October 1, 2016 has been $847,000.
- Through September 15, 2018 our average monthly mortgage payment will continue to be $12,000.
- By paying off our mortgage early, we will save approximately $660,000 in interest, and unleash $12,000 per month or $144,000 per year for expanded ministry opportunities. <
When will we hope to accomplish this goal?
How may I prepare to participate?
Generous stewardship is an active expression of prayer. Allow God to speak to you through prayer. Here are some Scripture passages that speak about stewardship and giving. Ex. 25:2; I Chron. 29:14; Matt. 6:19-34; Lk. 6:38; 12:16-21; 19:11-27; Acts 20:35; Rom. 15:22-28; I Cor. 16:1-2; 2 Cor. 8-9; I Tim. 6:17-21; Jas. 2:1-7.
Will I be pressured to make a commitment?
Absolutely not. Participation in the project and how much you give is entirely up to you. We ask you to pray and seek the Holy Spirit’s leading.
When will my commitment be accepted?
We encourage you to make your decision by Commitment Sunday, October 16th and 23rd. This will be a 24-month project so pledges and contributions of any amount, can be given at any time during this period.
If I can’t give a large amount, does my financial support really matter?
Absolutely! All gifts matter, regardless of amount, because as we all participate according to our ability, God multiplies our giving. We hope that all will participate by prayer, encouragement and if possible, giving.
What forms of contributions will be accepted?
There are a variety of ways to give: cash or check; online or via our website; appreciated property (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate); and charitable distributions from your IRA.
Ready to Partner With Us?
Three key characteristics of a faithful steward in Scripture are generosity, joy and thoughtfulness. The first, seen in passages such as 2 Cor. 9:5–15, reflects the recognition that everything we have is ultimately God’s and has been entrusted to us to steward for His purposes. The second reflects the blessings that come from giving that expresses our gratitude to God for what he has done for us. The third recognizes that those who thoughtfully maximize the kingdom ROI (“return on investment”) receive special commendation from the Lord (Matt. 25:4–30). Our stewardship goal, therefore, is to be rich towards God by generously and joyfully investing in causes that make a strategic difference in furthering His mission. By doing so, we honor Him as we reflect His generous gift of His Son to meet our spiritual needs. So please pray about and consider supporting “Grace Unleashed.”
