Faithfulness: Week 24 (Apr 10-16)

Faithfulness Practice: Week 24| April 10 - 16

Communities @ Grace

Goal for Week: Look at how Jesus showed faithfulness in his ministry on Earth.

Lesson 3 of 4.

45 minutes:  Welcome, Pray, Eat + Mingle

  • What kind of activities do you like to do with others?

  • What is one thing you have done that would surprise us?

15 Minutes : Review of last week’s practice experience

Review:

  • What feelings come up when you consider if God is always faithful?  Think deeply about where you might harbor doubts.  Pray, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal how he is being faithful and how you can wait actively in the situation.  Record what you learn and how the situation evolves.

  • Are you cynical with God or others? - “I’ll believe it when I see it?”

Take time each day to ponder the thoughts and conversations you have to  see if there are times when you don’t have faith.

  • What does it mean that faithfulness is a “Fruit of the Spirit”?  (Another way we are transformed to be more like Jesus)  Examine  ways you can strengthen this in your life?

  • How did this practice go for you? What is the Holy Spirit doing in your heart as a result of practicing this last week?

  • What is hindering you from practicing during the week?

  • How can we support each other?

  • How was your connection with Jesus this week?

35 Minutes : Introduction of Practice + Discussion Questions

Jesus lived a life of faithfulness while he was here.  He knew the plans God had for

him and his role in our salvation. Let’s look at a few passages where this is shown:

  • John 11:1-15 - (He was faithful to God’s plan in the face of danger and pressure from others)

  • Matt. 14:9-23 ( He was faithful to loving people in the midst of personal struggle, trauma and weariness)

  • Luke 22:39-46  (He was faithful to God’s plan even though he would  suffer and die)

  • What do each of these passages teach us about Jesus being faithful?

  • How can circumstances or pressure from others rob you from following God’s prompting?

  • Share a situation in your life where you could follow the example of Jesus to grow in faithfulness?

15 minutes - Practice Together

Get into a group of 2 or 3, each person identify one thing you will do this week to

practice faithfulness.

See next page for Practices next week, consider giving a copy to each member.  The

Practice Together activity has been added this week as well.

10 Minutes : Pray for One Another + Close

  • Consider praying as a whole group or in triads for personal prayer requests.

  • End on time in order to honor everyone’s time.
