Was hope discussed in your home and if so, how?
15 Minutes: Review of last week’s practice experience
List 2-3 things you are hoping for (expecting) from God? Take time to reflect on and pray whether these are in line with God’s character.
Read some of these passages to expand your view of hope, write them down and pray over how you can follow them

Colossians 1:27
Romans 8:24-25
1 Corinthians 15:17-20
Find your own passage on hope, pray over how you apply hope in your life and write about what God shows you.
The practices are meant to transform our lives. If members are not doing the practices, consider using these questions.
What is hindering you from practicing during the week?
How can we support each other?
45 Minutes: Introduction of Practice + Discussion
Today we look at the biblical words for hope and how they impact us today.
Are there situations in your life that seem hopeless? How do you handle those situations?
View the following Bible Project video on Hope. https://bibleproject.com/explore/video/yakhal-hope/
This video link can be found on this week’s study page on the website, as a button “Yakhal-Hope Video” right next to the PDF button.
What were the three terms used in the Old and New Testament and what did they mean?
Yakhal - Wait For,
Qavah - tension or expectation to happen
Elipsis - Living Hope
Let’s review some of the passages where the words are used:
Isaiah 8:17 (wait for the Lord)
Psalm 130: 5-8 (wait for the Lord)
Hosea 2:15-23 (a door of hope)
1 Peter 1:3-5 (living hope)
Romans 5:2-5 (living hope)
Romans 8:19-21(living hope for creation)
What is the basis of biblical hope? (trust in God's character, not circumstances)
How do we apply biblical hope to our lives? (share our need with God and trust that he will resolve it)
5 Minutes: Practice Together
Group activity: Consider where in your life there are situations that are out of your control and you need hope to resolve them. Take 2-3 minutes to individually talk with Jesus about your need and ask him for biblical hope.
Ask the group to share the results of their time reflecting.
5 Minutes: Ways to Practice this week
Review the Ways to Practice options on the last page
Leader Note: We are trying something new! For each practice topic, such as hope, we will be keeping the Ways to Practice at Home options the same. This will allow people to try more options as well as make the personal practice a part of their lives.
10 Minutes: Pray for One Another + Close
Consider praying as a whole group or in triads for personal prayer requests.
End on time.
